The Project

It is my belief that only a truly ignorant person can change anything.

I have undertaken a project (of my own choosing) for my senior design project at the Emily Carr Institute, and I know that I know very little. I post this in hopes that I may be enlightened by those of you who do know.

The goal of my project is to help plants to grow in the arctic. I hope to bring this about by designing a building component that assists in creating a growing space . (the scope of this project is not so nailed down right now, so I am consciously being vague)

I know little about the arctic and its different situations. I would like to know more about the quality of life, what it has and doesn't have, where it surpasses life down in the south, and what things are difficult or lacking.
I solicit opinions and hope for discussion.

Hi Carl,

Well I think even if you could manage to grow vegetables up here you might have a hard time convincing the local community to consume them. You would have a market with people from down south living up here. And have you looked into costs of moving such items up here? You can look at shipping costs for my region by going to www.ntcl.com
